About ITF Australia
Inspiring the Future (ITF) Australia aims to broaden the horizons and raise the aspirations of all young people, from primary school students to high school students. Research reveals that 95% of young people say they want employers to be more involved in providing advice and guidance about careers, so we’re on a mission to help make those connections.
Workplace volunteers from Apprentices to CEOs, Archaeologists to Zoologists sign up on the ITF website to pledge at least one hour a year to volunteer in a school near where they live or work to talk to young people about their job and career route.
Teachers are connected with volunteers through the secure ITF website, selecting people who best meet the needs of their students from a range of sectors and professions. At the heart is volunteers talking informally about their job, career and their educational route. In addition, volunteers can select a number of areas of expertise that might be of interest to students – e.g. apprenticeships, enterprise, mathematics, financial literacy, languages, engineering and technology etc.
In addition to informal career conversations and career insight talks, ITF Australia enables teachers to select and invite volunteers to help with a range of other activities such as providing resume advice and mock interviews and helping primary school students with literacy and numeracy related activities.
Partnerships with ITF
ITF Australia works collaboratively with a wide range of partners from the government, education, business and community sectors as well as with industry peak bodies and associations.
Partnerships create mutually beneficial avenues of engagement for all stakeholders by providing organization employees with meaningful opportunities to share their experiences with young people and by expanding student and teacher awareness of current and future employment pathways through organization specific events and activities.
ITF Australia partners with the NSW Department of Education and TAFE NSW to provide industry connections for the NSW Government’s pilot Vocational Innovation Centre at Seven Hills High School, which offers an extended range of vocational education courses to a collegiate of local schools to meet current and future industry skills gaps.
